A simple checklist before starting driving lessons in Edinburgh: provisional licence, eyesight, footwear, theory preparation and choosing an instructor.
A little preparation before lesson one makes the first session easier and helps you concentrate on driving rather than paperwork.
Provisional licence
Make sure you hold the correct provisional licence and bring it when I ask to check it.
Eyesight and footwear
You must meet the legal eyesight standard. Wear shoes that let you feel and control the pedals comfortably.
Theory alongside practical
You do not have to pass the theory before starting lessons, but working on it alongside practical tuition helps road signs, rules and hazard awareness make more sense.
