Redhall and the surrounding area is mostly residential but for a superstore, large Chinese restaurant/market, and a couple of car workshops/showrooms. There is also a Lothain buses, garage and depot. Longstone has a lot of homes with on street parking coupled with narrow streets, which makes this a tricky spot for newer learners. Kingsknowe, Hailes Gardens and Pentland Avenue make for far better area for new learners, due to its wider streets with more spaced out houses with driveways. Longstone and Inglis Green Road is by far the busiest and home to all those shops and garages. A great place to introduce learners to stop, start queuing traffic at slower speeds, with busses, lights and a pedestrian crossing. There is also a level crossing at Kingsknowe train station. Lanark Road is wider, has a faster speed limit and is on a hill, add in floating parking bays and some bus lanes and you have feature heavy, learner driver training area for beginners and advanced alike.
